Penny Vavura

Penelope Vavura, senior counselor, has more than 15 years in the public relations, marketing and development fields throughout the Capital Region.

Penny attended Binghamton University and graduated with a B.A. in archaeology/anthropology.

With her love of history, she gained valuable experience working on exhibition preparation teams, corporate fund raising, media relations, special events and collateral design earlier in her career. Since then, she has worked at local public relations firms, leading clients in extensive media relations efforts, building stakeholders, special events, strategic marketing plans, advertising campaigns and collateral design. Her client work has been recognized with a Mark of Excellence Award from the Albany chapter of the American Marketing Association and with Empire Awards from the Public Relations Society of America Capital Region Chapter.

Penny is active as a volunteer in the Capital Region community and has served a term as president of the Capital Region Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and is currently the Northeast District chair for PRSA.  In 2013, Penny was awarded PRSA's Outstanding Practitioner of the Year.
